“Human” Leadership

Leadership in HR has become a critical success factor for organizations of all sizes. Future HR leaders need to be empathetic towards employees while also considering the client/customer perspective as well. Their key role includes to setup and communicate organizational goals and objectives and to create a satisfactory working environment for all the employees.

HR leadership is essential for expansion of an organization. A human resource leader uses advanced and creative leadership techniques while working hard to achieve strategic goals and objectives. They raise awareness and provide direction to all organizational levels during times of change and transition. They also provide management and staff with coaching on company culture and more effective ways for people to get along and collaborate.

Human resource leadership positions also require the development of metrics and other performance indicators, as well as the regular modification of policies in response to overall performance while ensuring that strategies remain effective and deliver on the return on investment (ROI) from the change.

Employees who experience a cooperative approach to resolving conflicts within the team are more likely to rate their leader effectiveness when they exhibit servant leadership behaviors. (Xiu, 2023)

As per (Fatima, 2021) organizational behavior researchers have given servant leadership a good deal of attention, including it as one of the positive leadership principles that offers a range of favorable employee outcomes.

Qualities of a human leader typically includes:

  • Should be a forward thinker.
  • Strategic and innovative.
  • Ethical and empathetic.
  • Flexible and servant leadership.
  • Continuous leaner
  • Accountable for all HR activities.
  • Recognition and appreciation.

Corporate leaders that show servant leadership can assist employees in collaborating to handle organizational difficulties such as interpersonal conflict because these leaders are usually involved with providing service, upholding good communication, actively resolving issues, and preserving healthy relationships. (Fields, 2021)

As per (Obi, 2020) it highlights that organizations should avoid preventing conflicts and forcing solutions while acting as a third party, and instead should embrace the advantages of practicing servant leadership and problem-solving behaviors in order to decrease team conflicts.

How to Acquire the Human Leadership Advantage

What separates effective HR leaders from others?

The best human resource managers take great satisfaction in cultivating a good rapport with their staff. Introducing diversity and inclusion initiatives that displays concern for employees is the responsibility of HR teams. HR leaders also need to be excellent role models, while setting an example for others to follow if they hope to effect change or modify employee behavior.

What strategies can be applied to enhance HR leadership?

Implementing programs for leadership development and training is the primary strategy for enhancing leadership. Hire an expert who offers a well-informed strategy or send your best employees to a seminar. Additionally, you can make sure that upper management and the HR department work together to achieve their goals. By doing this, it is ensured that the parties' efforts are coordinated and beneficial to the workers' well-being as well as the success of the company.

What is the top priority for HR leaders in modern business world?

The increased demand for talent in organizational design and change management is one of the most important issues that HR leaders need to get ready for. Although not all HR directors receive training in these areas, the importance of these skills is growing as executives introduce new development initiatives. It takes time to implement these changes, but there is more pressure than ever to be progressive and draw in different workforce.

Human leaders build positive and vibrant organizational cultures which benefits both workers and the organization's overall performance by placing a strong emphasis on empathy, teamwork, and ethical behavior.

  5. The qualities of a human leader while ideal for any organization, it may not be freely practiced `by those who should. There are companies who have leaders who don't possess these qualities however still manage to exist in the market. But I feel in the long-term they will need to adapt to these practices to stay relevant.
